We host about a dozen families each summer & early fall at the cabin, and love that this home plays a part in so many family memories.

You’re not just a number when you stay here; we enjoy a quick chat to ‘get to know you’ ahead of time. We ask “what brings you to the Northwoods” because every family is unique — they’d like to take the whole family out on a kayak trip, they’re hoping for a musky, they’d like to rent a pontoon and cruise the chain of lakes, they just want to relax by the water while the kids splash…

Some of our guests have been coming to the Northwoods for decades; for others, it’s the first time. We enjoy answering your questions and sharing what we know to help your stay be smooth, no surprises, even better than expected.

Great Family Time

Our family loved staying at White Pines. We had beautiful weather at the end of August for one last summer getaway! Our family enjoyed kayaking, fishing, swimming, cornhole and axe throwing. We ended each of our evenings around the campfire enjoying s’mores. There’s nothing like family time! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us. It was perfect for our family!

The cabin was wonderful. It was very clean, well stocked with anything that we would need besides our personal belongings and the beds were very comfortable. It was on a quiet lake that has a channel leading to the chain of lakes- very fun to kayak and fish! We loved sitting outside everynight watching the sunset and playing cornhole.
Heidi quickly responded to any questions that we had and was friendly and helpful.
We definitely recommend it and will hopefully stay here again.

We have rented a bunch of airbnb and vrbo places, usually in the north woods, i think this was my favorite, lots to do with plenty of watercraft (kayaks, canoe, and more ) lots of games inside, for the rainy days, and a their are some absolutely gorgeous lakes and waterways within kayaking distance ( i highly suggest checking out olsen lake, that is just a few hundred yards away

Heidi went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. She provides everything you need to stay comfortably and pack lighter. Great Week at Whitefish Lake

We loved our week at Whitefish lake in the White Pines Cabin. The hosts were AMAZING and available for the few quick things we needed. The cabin was just the right size and there were activities for everyone from boating, to paddle boarding to axe throwing to board games. The kitchen was well stocked and everything worked great. It was clean and comfortable both inside and outside. We all really enjoyed the week and would recommend it to anyone heading up that way. Thank you again for all the wonderful and memorable week!

Northwoods Vacation

This property is exactly as listed. The property was easy to find, had no steps to the lake and had indoor and outdoor space for everyone. The house is well stocked and the towels provided were fluffy- bath, kitchen and lots of nice towels for swimming/boating. The Wi-Fi was good and our cell phones had reception. We saw/heard lots of loons and the view of the lake was beautiful and ever-changing. Heidi was easy to reach and was quick to respond.

Excellent place to stay. It really is stocked with everything you would need. We stayed with three adults, two kids, and a baby and there was plenty of space. Usually when I travel with kids I have to walk around and “de clutter” all of the potential breakables and put them up high. I didn’t have to do this here as it’s set up perfectly for kids. Although the weather was chilly we still had plenty to do just hanging out at the cabin. We spent most evenings sitting outside by the bonfire listening to the loons call. We hope to return someday when the weather is warmer.

Family Vacation 2022

The property is very well maintained, stocked and clean. They have so many things there for your family to do. Loved the kayaks, floating lily pad, fishing boat with trolling motor, outdoor fire pit with wood for smores. Indoors the boys loved the foosball table and darts.

The best amenities of any AirBnB stay! Sharp knives, Brita filter, all the kitchenware you need, plenty of soft towels, blackout curtains in kids room, movies, games, and more. Heidi also provided a super cute s’mores kit! The stars are gorgeous, the lake front is great, the paddling is peaceful!

It’s great that there are kayaks, paddle boat, Lilly pad, and games provided such as darts, fooseball table, and board games! Heidi the host also provided a lot of information about the area. Cabin is very nice and would recommended for a family vacation!

We had the pleasure of staying at White Pines Cabin 4th of July week. We had the most wonderful stay! The cabin is fully furnished and the kitchen stocked with an abundance of dishes and silverware and just about every pot or pan and kitchen tools you’ll need; there’s even a full size washer and dryer for all the towels you’ll be using. Us, along with our son’s and granddaughters’ families which include 4 great-grandkids – (who all live in Three Lakes) spent most days enjoying Whitefish Lake, which even the week of July 4 was quiet and not the least bit crowded.

We made good use of the kayaks (adult and kids size), paddle boards and peddle boat. There is also a canoe and jonboat and lily pad, which we did not use only because the kids were so happy with kayaks and peddle boat we never got around to using them. They also had a blast catching fish off the dock. In the evening we all sat around the fire pit and enjoyed s’mores. S’mores tackle box with all the fixings, and roasting sticks provided by the host was the perfect ending to perfect days!

If you’re looking for a relaxing stay, a little off the beaten path but still convenient to all Three Lakes has to offer, you will not find a better “home” than White Pines Cabin. When we return, it will be here.

We loved our stay at Heidi’s. The location was great, the secluded lake was peaceful and the house was right on the lake with amazing views. The best part was all the water toys that came with the property. We played on the water for hours and it was great not having to rent all of it. There are great places to take the kayaks and paddle boards: a “hidden” lake and the Thoroughfare. A great mix of fun and playful and restful and peaceful. Heidi was extremely responsive the whole week if we needed anything. There were a lot of thoughtful “nice to haves” around the cabin like first aid supplies in the bathroom, ziplock bags in the kitchen – just a lot of stuff you would naturally reach for in your own house. We loved our stay here and the hosts were terrific.

Great Family Getaway

We rented this cabin for a Fourth of July getaway. The owner had thought of everything—the cabin was totally outfitted with plenty for our kids (9-13) including kayaks, canoe, fishing pier, games, movies and more. Conveniently located near Three Lakes, we had access to supplies but enjoyed that the cabin is off the beaten path. Whitefish Lake is gorgeous and quieter than nearby lakes. Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

A Peaceful Escape

The property was just as shows listed and the first thing we all noticed was the quiet surroundings.

Kayaks were a huge hit not only the for teens but for adults too. The lake foam pad was a great treat to have to lay out on the water as well.

My son Evan caught his biggest Musky ever on this lake so you can imagine the excitement.

Heidi was a pleasure to work with throughout and we even got to meet her husband and a few of their kids.

This was a great experience and we look forward to doing it again.

This was a perfect Northwoods getaway location! They really thought of everything a traveling family may need to enjoy a relaxing lake getaway. The fishing was fun and the kids loved the kayaks. Plenty to do indoors on the rainy days. Would definitely come back again.

Great place off the beaten path.

Whitefish Lake is a perfect size for a family to explore on the boats provided. Very few power boats and great water clarity. It’s a shallow sandy bottom with a few weeds at the dock, wade out to swim, no problem. Fish for little sunfish and small mouth right off the dock, or wade out to your knees. Nothing for anglers to get excited about, but easy fun for kids in the evening.

Amazing sunset views from the dock, the patio or the deck. Kitchen is extremely well stocked with most everything you could need. We cooked for six all but one meal. We did the Walmart grocery pickup as suggested, but there is a small market between town and the cottage for anything you forgot.

Take the family to the ski show at Big Stone Lake Wednesday evening, the fish fry at Bonnie’s Friday evening, and don’t miss Lickedy Spilts for ice cream.

As advertised, no WiFi, and cell/data coverage is poor. I had a morning of web meetings I had to take, and it was easy enough to run into Three Lakes to the coffee shop for solid WiFi.
